“Consider that nothing save holiness and devotion can satisfy your soul in this world.” – St. Francis De Sales in Introduction to the Devout Life.

I want this kind of devotion to Christ.

I say this is what I want, but I am like the overly dramatic professional wrestler in a tag team match.  I’m flat on my back, pressed down by so many distractions and worldly promises that failed to satisfy.  I stretch towards my partner of godly devotion on the other side of the ropes who is also straining in my direction.  I’m so close to touching that way of life, to tagging and receiving relief – but often I fail to lunge that final inch.

Today I choose to lunge another inch closer to devotion.
